Safety First: Developing an Emergency Response Plan
Emergency Response Planning (ERP) means having the right tools to respond when an injury or accident occurs.
WorkSafe BC’s twelve tips for an effective Emergency Response Plan can help you respond effectively and safely when an emergency occurs.
1.Be Prepared for Anything
Your work location and environment change regularly. You could be on a different site, drainage or road system, the weather might have changed, or other contractors in the area may have come or gone. It’s important to ask at the start of every day, does our ERP have us covered?
2. 911 Is Not A Rescue Plan
Working in bush means you may be outside of a cell or satellite phone service area. Many jurisdictions don’t have the capacity to respond to emergencies in remote locations. If you can make one phone call, decide in advance who that should be to. BC Ambulance is highly recommended.
