PFLA ON THE ROAD: CONNECTING WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments Convention

The PFLA was an enthusiastic tradeshow attendee at this year’s AKBLG Convention in Kimberley, BC. The AKBLG, the Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments, is the local government association that represents the municipalities and electoral areas of the south-eastern portion of the province of British Columbia and is one of five area associations within the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM).

The managed forests in south-eastern BC are diverse, ranging from dry forests with ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir to wetter, more temperate regions with western hemlock and western redcedar.

The PFLA appreciated the opportunity to connect with local leaders at the event about Private Managed Forest lands – what they are, how they are managed, and how they benefit neighbouring communities.

Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities Convention

The PFLA also recently attended the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities (AVICC) Convention in Nanaimo. The PFLA has been a regular attendee at this annual Convention for many years and looks forward to the opportunity it provides to continue to build on already well-established relationships with local government.

AVICC represents the various municipalities, regional districts and other local governments of Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, qathet/Powell River, the North Coast and the Central Coast.
