Daphne (Spurge-Laurel)

Did you know the Invasive Species Council of BC‘s website features a fantastic inventory of invasive species? Visit the website and keep an eye out for damaging species and potential new threats to BC.

For example, daphne (Spurge-Laurel) is a rhododendron-like plant with shiny green leaves and light yellow-green flowers. It is an escaped horticultural plant that can rapidly take over a range of ecosystems. It is especially suited to take over forest understories where it can form dense monocultures and outcompete native vegetations. It’s sap is mildly toxic to humans and animals.
