Connecting with Communities

This week, the Private Forest Landowners Association is representing members at the annual Union of BC Municipalities convention. We also host our annual reception for members of local and provincial government this week. Both events provide valuable opportunities for outreach to elected officials.

Why is community outreach important to the PFLA? For starters, there is significant regulatory oversight of the PFLA, so ongoing and constructive relations with provincial officials helps to ensure government policy is fair, environmentally sound, fiscally responsible and respectful of private property rights.

In addition, private managed forest landowners are your neighbours, with many conducting sustainable forest management activities adjacent local communities. UBCM is an opportunity for the PFLA to connect with community leaders to ensure we have a long-term plan to keep our forests healthy, while recognizing the economic value of this sustainable resource.
